I'm now being coached by a Professional Powerlifter

I've tried to hit the gym numerous times before, however, something always happened that made me quit. It was either a job requiring more time or even moving to another place far away from a gym. What made things even worse is the fact that I hate body building! I find it boring and the ultimate goal doesn't really interest me.1 Yet, I feel that this happens to a lot of people, because the whole Brazilian gym culture kind of resolves around body building and clueless beginners don't even know other strength sports exist...

Nonetheless, I discovered Powerlifiting on my last gym trial. To be honest, I didn't even know it had a name, but I made a friendship with an amateur athlete without knowing and started doing the training with him. And boy, I loved it! It was way more intense than what I previously tried and the whole workout routine just felt nicer.

Anyway, for the past 4 to 5 months I've been following the Stronglifts 5x5 workout routine. It has been really nice and worked great for me due to two main reasons:

  1. I wanted a no-brainer workout
  2. I really followed the program due to the simplicity

This made me not give up on the whole thing due to complexity or too much thinking.

{{< alert class="info" >}} The compound effect can be applied to anything in life, I suppose. 🤪 {{< /alert >}}

Now, for 2023 I really want to step up my game. I don't want to compete or do anything huge, but I do want to improve my numbers and get the most out of the sport. For this, I hired a professional powerlifter coach to review my workout routine and form.

  1. Stating the obvious: if you enjoy it, go for it! It's just something not for me.
